Personal Thoughts

1408 is a 2007 American supernatural thriller,  directed by Swedish director Mikael Håfström, starring John CusackSamuel L. Jackson, and Mary McCormack. The film is based on Stephen King's 1999 short story of the same title.

“1408" in my humble opinion, is a magnificent piece of horror. The movie centers around Mike Enslin (John Cusack), a renown horror novelist who believes in only what can be seen with his own two eyes. His life however takes a drastic turn (the skeptic in him appeased once and for all) when he decides to check into suite 1408 of the infamous Dolphin Hotel. What he refused to believe then, he's forced to believe now!

"NO ONE'S EVER LASTED MORE THAN AN HOUR"

1408 is definitely my kind of flick. To say that I enjoyed it would be a bit of an understatement, and that's not to say it was perfect. It has flaws just like most other movies out there on the market. But I guess you can just say that I'm a sucker for these types of movies.

John Cusack and Samuel Jackson in my opinion, give solid performances (though Samuel Jackson's role is small in this film). I liked the "skeptic who's in for a crude awakening" style storyline. I loved the chilling tales of those who had so tragically succumbed to the evil forces of room 1408. And I also liked the cinematography, atmosphere and vibe of the movie.

Though the movie's not really scary, it does still have some parts that might make you jump!

If you're a fan of haunted house, scary places and ghost movies, then 1408 may be worth taken a look at.

SPECIAL NOTE: it's been said that the title 1408 = the number 13 ... 1+4+8 = 13 ... thus we've chosen to make this movie our 13th recommendation!
